BJP forms ‘human flag’ in Dahod to celebrate 35th foundation day

BJP’s state president R C Faldu called this a “novel experiment that will be a historic event for the party”. Party workers and supporters forming flag also took BJP’s “Panch Nishtha (five faiths) pledge” to work for the nation selflessly.

Party workers said they approached residents of around 650 villages in the tribal-dominated district to bring in supporters for the flag of which 33 per cent were women. BJP workers conducted an intensive membership drive in the district by spreading out to 450 villages in 21 days and the exercise was dubbed a success.

Addressing the audience that consisted primarily of tribals who came from far-flung villages to form the party flag, Patel said that her government has passed a project of laying Hafeshwar water pipeline that will address the long-standing problem of drinking water in the two tribal districts of Dahod and the Panchmahals. She also exhorted women in the audience to embrace the government’s cleanliness drive to control the spread of diseases such as “cancer and TB”.

“Whether MLA, MP or party workers, everybody demanded from the state government a project of vital importance that concerns supply of drinking water to people in Dahod and Panchmahals districts. They wanted Hafeshwar pipeline to take water to every household in the two districts. I have come here to tell you that your demand has been accepted and the state government has launched the project which will be ready in another two and half years,” she said.

In her brief 11-minute speech, Patel stressed on her government’s commitment for the development of the state’s tribal region, with education being a top priority.

“State government has launched many new projects for tribal areas. To spread education, whether it is primary, secondary or higher secondary education, the government has tried its best and opened colleges so that the students do not have to go far off to attend classes,” she said. She also talked about the government’s Doodh Sanjeevani programme that aims to offer milk to every child attending anganwadi centres and asked tribal women to sent their children to those centres to avail of the benefit.

She further said that the government has taken decision to supply cattle to villagers to make them self-reliant. Further, patting her back for her government constructing seven lakh toilets in both urban and rural areas across the state, she sought the support of audience to complete the project in another two years.

“Lack of toilet causes cancer, TB, which causes death to pregnant mothers and newborns. You may not know but deadly diseases spread through lack of cleanliness. I would request sarpanch of each village in this district to start a campaign to construct a toilet in each household. It saddens me that despite being a development oriented state, not all households have toilets,” she said.
