Belagavi murder: Police arrests 3 supari killers

BELAGAVI: Belagavi police finally succeeded in cracking down the brutal and mysterious murder of 45 year old Mahantesh Mallappa Navalagi of Budarakatti village in Bailhongal taluk, occurred in the month of February. Police arrested five accused in connection to the case, including three professional supari killers hails from Bengaluru.
Navalagi’s dead body had found under the bridge of Madi Halla, near Kenganur village on Bailhongal- Belawadi Road on 26th February.It was packed in a plastic bag along with garbage. Killers had disfigured face of the body by stone to destroy the identification of body. When the body was found, it was already 4-5 days old.
Briefing to the media persons here on Monday, SP Ravikante Gowda said during the investigation, police identified the body putting hard efforts. He said deceased’s uncle Rayappa Yallappa Navalagi is the prime accused in this case. Rayappa had given supari to the Bengaluru based three professional killers, through his friend Narayan Bandiwaddar of his Budarakatti village. He had also given Rs 2 lakh in advance. Reason behind murder was, deceased Mahantesh was forcing Rayappa’s wife for illicit affair, which she had brought to the notice of her husband.
Police have arrested all five accused involved in this case, they are- prime accused Rayappa Navalagi, mediator Narayan Bandiwaddar and supari killers- Manju alias Shivu Yallappa Amingad (22) of Amingad in Bagalkot district (Settled in Bengaluru), Ayyappa Armurgam (24) and Hemantkumar Raja (24) both are residents of Vijanapur in Ambedkar Nagar in Bengaluru.
Police also recovered four motorcycles (one of them was stolen), four cell phones and contract cash received by the accused for making murder. Department had formed an investigation team comprising Bailhongal DySP S B Mastmardi, Kittur CPI Sanganagouda and Dodawad PSI Prasad Fanikar after this murder incident.
