The KTM 1190 Adventure R will be brought via the CKD route in the country that will keep the prices competitive against the competition.
Having taken the entry-level performance segment by storm in the naked and supersport segments, KTM is all geared up to take on the adventure sport segment and could soon launch the 1190 Adventure R in India. As these images showcase, the KTM 1190 Adventure R has already arrived at the manufacturer’s dealerships in the country while a launch can be expected in the coming weeks. This development coincides with KTM CEO Stefan Pierer’s statement that the brand was working towards offering an adventure motorcycle in India that would be introduced via the CKD route thereby carrying a competitive price tag.
Based on a Trellis frame, the KTM 1190 Adventure R draws power from an 1195cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine that produces 148 HP of power and 125 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed transmission. Weighing only 230 kgs (kerb), the adventure tourer gets WP suspension and also comes loaded with combined-ABS, Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) and tyre pressure monitoring system. The 1190 boasts of a ground clearance of 220 mm and also has a decently sized 23-litre fuel tank that makes the bike capable of going anywhere without having the need to turn back.
The 1190 Adventure R sits right in the middle of KTM’s adventure lineup between the 1090 Adventure and the 1290 Super Adventure models. The bike will primarily compete against the recently launched Triumph Tiger XCx in the country that is powered by an 800cc motor and is priced at Rs. 10.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). In comparison, the 1190 sports a bigger engine with higher power output and given the fact it will most likely be a CKD model, the Adventure R is expected to come with a competitive price tag of around Rs. 12.7 lakhs (ex-showroom).
