K. Swami Goud, Chairman, Legislative Council, said that the government would take steps to fill about one lakh vacant posts.
Participating in Babu Jagjivan Ram’s birth anniversary celebrations held at the district headquarters on Sunday, Mr. Swami Goud said that the government was committed to meet the aspirations of the youth and unemployed who had participated in the Telangana movement. Staing that they were yet to get the exact information about vacancies as the division was not yet complete, the Council Chairman said that they were expecting about one lakh vacancies would be there in the government at various levels.
Mr. Swami Goud also promised to suggest for establishment of a study circle at Sangareddy and filling of SC/ST backlog posts to the government.
ZP Chairman A. Rajamani said that the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been following the footsteps of Babu Jagjivan Ram.
Collector Rajhul Bojja said that Babu Jagjivan Ram, Jyothirao Phule and Baba Saheb Ambedkar strived to uplift the downtrodden sections. “Reservations were provided to protect the interests of the sections. Use them completely and grab the opportunities,” he said.
Adilabad Special Correspondent writes: Collector M. Jagan Mohan said the State government has been committed to the upliftment of Dalits.
Garlanding the statue of Babu Jagjivan Ram , the Collector said the government distributed 500 acres under the three acres land scheme to every landless Dalit family. He said, 1,000 more acres would be distributed in the near future.
Talking about the government’s initiative on self-employment, Mr. Jagan Mohan said about Rs. 103 crore was spent during the last financial year on self-employment schemes for Dalits in the district. He said 2,219 schemes were grounded with 60 per cent subsidy.
SC Corporation Executive Director P. Yadaiah and in-charge Deputy Director of Social Welfare Gajjanna were present on the occasion.

Presiding over the function, Collector D. Ronald Rose said that Jagjivan Ram struggled against all the odds and rose himself to the level of Union Cabinet Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. MLCs V.G. Goud, D. Rajeswar, ZP Chairman D. Raju, Mayor Akula Sujatha, DCCB chairman Gangadhar Patwari and Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy also spoke.
Karimnagar Special Correspondent writes: The celebrations were conducted on a grand note under the chairmanship of Government Whip Koppula Eshwar. Speaking on the occasion, MP Vinod Kumar said that the government was committed to provide three acres of land to the Dalits. He also said that they would include the Telangana movement in the school syllabus to promote patriotism.
