R.P. Marutharaaja (51), Member of Parliament of Perambalur constituency (AIADMK), and his son Prasanna Kumar (18) were injured when a share autorikshaw knocked them down here on Sunday.
The accident occurred when the share auto, returning from Ariyalur to Perambalur, hit them near a school on Thuraiyur road while they were on a morning walk. While Prasanna was treated as an out patient at the Government Hospital in Perambalur, Mr. Marutharaaja, who sustained severe injuries, had been admitted to a private hospital in Tiruchi. His condition is said to be stable, sources said.
Perambalur police arrested B. Manikandan (29) of Sencholai, driver cum owner of the auto.
