The police are said to be on the verge of solving the murder of college student T. Arnold (21) of Tirupur who was found murdered in an abandoned building alongside the railway track on Brookebond Road here in August last year.

Ex-convict

The murder of the student and taxi driver S. Jebaraj (38) at the Singanallur Bus Stand recently helped the police get close to solving the murder of the youth.

A top police officer told The Hindu that an ex-convict F. Pandian alias Gnanaraj (35) of Radhapuram in Tirunelveli district has reportedly confessed that he murdered Arnold with his accomplice Ramesh, who is at large.

Pandian was among the three persons who were secured by the police a few days ago in connection with the murder at the Singanallur Bus Stand.

The officer said that Pandian had reportedly confessed that he and Ramesh worked together as servers in weddings parties and other occasions.

Petty

crimes

They were also accomplices in other petty crimes. On August 19 they tried to take away money from the student. When he protested they murdered him.

Three special teams formed under Deputy Commissioner (Law and Order) of the Coimbatore City Police Pravesh Kumar are on the look out for Ramesh.

Arnold’s murder was the only murder in the city that could not be cracked in 2014.

Meanwhile, Pandian and his accomplies R. Ismail (32) of Marthandam in Kanyakumari district and R. Kumar alias Kannan (25) of Chitradurga in Karnataka who were secured by the police in connection with the murder at Singanallur were lodged in the Central Prison on Sunday evening.
