Shiv Sena worker found murdered in Badlapur, police begin probe

A 42-year-old Shiv Sainik was found murdered in Badlapur on Saturday morning. Although the police suspect that he was attacked by three men and stabbed to death, the motive remains unclear.

According to the police, deceased Keshav Mohite, an autorickshaw driver by profession, also served as the upa shakhapramukh of the Shiv Sena’s Shivaji Chowk office.

Mohite, the police said, picked up unidentified passengers at the Badlapur railway station on Saturday morning and ferried them to the Kharvai MIDC area at 7 am.

“We suspect that after reaching the destination, the men stabbed Mohite several times and fled. We are working on a few leads and will know what the motive for killing Mohite was in a day’s time,” said I R Andhalkar, senior inspector, Badlapur (East) police station.

He added that the alleged assailants dumped a bleeding Mohite on the road the fled, and it was a local resident out on a morning walk, who spotted him and called the police.

The police said that Mohite was rushed to the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences in Dombivali, but succumbed to his injuries.

“Mohite’s brother has named a few people, who he thinks could be behind the murder. We are investigating these names,” said an officer from Badlapur (East) police station.
