528 students awarded degrees

As many as 528 students of Velammal College of Engineering and Technology were awarded degrees at the 4{+t}{+h}Convocation Day, ‘Harvest 2015’, on the college premises at Viraganoor here on Saturday.

K. Tamilmani, Chief Controller R&D (Aero) and Head, Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC), Department of Defence, delivered the convocation address and also gave away the degrees.

Among the 99 university rank holders from undergraduate students, R. Soundarya from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department and S. Shyamala from the Information Technology Department who had secured gold medals were honoured.

M. Usha Rani, who had secured a gold medal from among the 19 rank holders from postgraduate students, was also honoured.

Principal N. Suresh Kumar presented the annual report of the college during the programme. Special guest Justice K.N. Basha, Chairman of the Intellectual Property Appellate Board and Retired Judge, Madras High Court, also addressed the students. College Chairman M.V. Muthuramalingam, other members of the management, faculty members and parents were present at the event.
