Senior judge of the High Court of Karnataka, K.L. Manjunath, has expressed disappointment over the allegations against him.
“I have not done anything wrong as a judge. Because of Shakunis and Mir Sadiks, I am facing some difficulties,” he said, after inaugurating the first phase of the district court complex here on Saturday. Last year, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his elevation as Chief Justice of Punjab High Court. The Law Ministry raised objections to the recommendation and returned the file to the collegium. There were reports in media raising doubts over his integrity. Members of the Aam Admi Party had also conducted a signature campaign to start impeachment proceedings against him.
H.C. Mahadevappa, Minister for Public Works and in-charge of Hassan district, said it was unfortunate that a judge from Karnataka lost an opportunity to serve the country. “He is retiring on April 20. Hence, I skipped the State cabinet meeting to be with Mr. Manjunath in this programme,” he said.
High Court judges N.K. Patil, Abdul Najeer and A.V. Chandrashekhar were present.
