MHOW: Body of Grenadier Jogesh Dhakad, who fell to terrorist bullets in Baramula district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday was brought here en route to his native village of Barotha in Dewas district on Friday. Funeral will be held with full military honours on Saturday.
An army contingent received the body at Indore airport and took it to the mortuary of military hospital Mhow.
Body will be taken to his native Barotha village, about 23 kilometres from Dewas district headquarters, on Saturday morning. When information about Jogesh's death reached his father Kedar Singh, he was attenddng a wedding ceremony in a neighbouring village. Sources said after getting the information about his son's death Singh immediately left for his home. Family source said he did not break the news to Jogesh's mother Ramabai and wife Mona. As per sources in Mhow, senior officers of Mhow military station, along with troops of 22 Sikh and 4/1 Gorkha Rifles will reach Barotha village for Dhakad's last rites.
Dhakad joined Indian army as a recruit in Grenadiers regiment in 2003. He had much affiliation for Mhow Cantonment as he was selected in Army Recruitment rally held on Gorkha ground in 2003, from where he joined training centre of his regiment at Jabalpur.
As per army sources, troops of 29 Rashtriya Rifles battalion were returning from night patrol to their base camp near Tangdhar in Baramula district on Thursday morning when a group of heavily armed terrorists ambushed them. Jogesh Dhakad received multiple bullet injuries and succumbed while being taken to a hospital in Srinagar.
