Teacher suspended for sexual assualt

A government school teacher from Marandahalli in Dharmapuri district, has been placed under suspension by Chief Educational Officer (CEO) KP Maheswari.

COIMBATORE: A government school teacher from Marandahalli in Dharmapuri district, has been placed under suspension by Chief Educational Officer (CEO) KP Maheswari. The teacher allegedly sexually assaulted a Class 9 student at his rented house at Marandahalli on March 28.
Locals, who broke opened the door, assaulted the teacher and broke his hands. However, the parents of the girl, failed to lodge complaint with the police.
So, the police are not able to take any action against the teacher.
The teacher, Kamaraj, a native of B Mallapuram in Dharmapuri district was teacher at government girls' higher secondary school at Marandahalli. He was taking mathematics classes for Class 9 and 10 students. He was staying in a rented house at Marandahalli along with his wife who had left to her hometown for her delivery last month.
On Saturday, the student was seen entering Kamaraj's house on March 28, after which he locked the main door. When residents living nearby realized that the girl had not come out from the house for a long time, they broke opened the door and found the girl being sexually assaulted by the teacher.
The angry mob beat the teacher and broke his hands.
However, the girl's parents did not lodge a complaint with the police. However, CEO Maheswari ordered a group of educational officials to conduct a detailed inquiry about the incident and submit a report. On Wednesday, the report was submitted to her and based on it, the teacher was placed under suspension.
"The incident happened outside the school campus. However, the school teacher had no business inviting students to his house. We conducted a probe and found out that he had assaulted the girl. But the girl's parents did not cooperate or confirm the incident. Nor did they file a complaint with the police," said CEO Maheswari.
When TOI contacted the Dharmapuri superintednet of police, J Loganathan, he said, "We are ready to take stringent action against the teacher. But, we still have not received a complaint from the girl or her kin," said SP Loganathan.
