BJP yatra to tour 3 Assembly segments

April 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - Kozhikode:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit secretary K. Surendran will take out a Jana Jagarana Yatra in Nadapuram, Kuttiyadi, and Vadakara Assembly constituencies in the district on April 6 and 7.

BJP State unit president V. Muraleedharan will inaugurate the yatra at Nadapuram on April 6 evening. The yatra will tour the Nadapuram, Thooneri, Edacheri, Purameri, Eramala, and Onchiyam grama panchayats on April 7. It will conclude at Kottaparamba Maidan at Vadakara.

BJP national executive member P.K. Krishnadas will inaugurate a public meeting. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh State unit leaders P. Gopalankutty and Valsan Thillengeri, BJP State unit secretary V.V. Rajan, district unit president P. Reghunath, and State spokesperson V.K. Sajeevan will take part in the programme.

The BJP leaders said the aim of the yatra was to make the people aware of the “adjustment politics” adopted by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the riot-hit Nadapuram region. This adjustment politics was evident when the State government gave compensation to the killers of Shibin Bhaskaran, an activist of the Democratic Youth Federation of India, Mr. Reghunath said.

Shibin was killed by a gang owing allegiance to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) at Thooneri in January. Both the LDF and the UDF were cheating the people, he alleged. The CPI(M) had always promoted violence at Nadapuram, he alleged. Mr. Reghunath also accused the leaders of the IUML and the CPI(M) of striking a deal in a Gulf country.

Aim of yatra is to make people aware of “adjustment politics” of LDF and UDF in Nadapuram.
