The CPI (M) wanted the Central and the State governments to implement the sub-plans for the welfare and development of Backward Communities who constitute a major portion of the population in the country, on the lines of SC/ST sub-plan.

Talking to media persons here on Friday, party State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said that there are many castes and sub-castes among BCs who are very poor. These minority BC castes like potters, fishermen, washer men and stone cutters are being neglected over the years and they have no equal opportunities, he added.

Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi belongs to a BC community, the community members are not happy with his governance as his government is not making efforts for their development. If he is serious about their welfare, he should bring BC sub-plan and implement it across the nation, apart from the SC/ST sub-plan, Mr. Veerabhadram said.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao always talks about social justice to the oppressed and socially disadvantaged castes but is ignoring his responsibility towards them after assuming power. If he is sincere in his assurances, he should enact law for BC sub-plan and execute it, the CPI (M) leader said.

Mr. Veerabhadram said that the farming community and the unemployed youth are in dire straits and therefore the governments need to come to their rescue with suitable plans and schemes. Over 700 farmers committed suicides due to agrarian crisis and each family needs to be given an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh, he said.

Demanding the Government announce notification for recruiting teachers and other vacancies in various departments, he said that there are over 2 lakh vacancies in the State.

Even after 10 months of formation of new State and new government, not a single notification for filling posts was given, he said.

The former Member of Parliament earlier addressed the party district committee meeting.

Party senior leaders S. Malla Reddy, B. Venkat and district secretary Dandi Venkat were also present.
