GURGAON: Eight doctors of Gurgaon's Civil Hospital will monitor the condition of the 5-year-old rape survivor, who is being treated in Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
The girl was operated upon at Safdarjung Hospital after being brutalized by a 32-year-old man in Chakkarpur on March 29. The decision to send doctors from Gurgaon to monitor the girl was taken after the family demanded on Thursday that she be brought to a Gurgaon hospital.
But on Friday, the girl's family said they were satisfied with the course of treatment provided to the child and wanted her to stay in the same hospital.
"There are four doctors treating her. Plus, our child has been showing the signs of improvement, so we want her to stay in the same hospital," the girl's grandfather told TOI.
Pushpa Bishnoi, the chief medical officer of Gurgaon, said Civil Hospital had decided to send doctors after allegations that it had refused to admit the child.
"The allegations are baseless because the child has been treated by a superspecialist in Safdarjung Hospital. We gave her first aid, prepared her report and immediately referred her to Sagdarjung Hospital."
