LUCKNOW: People staying in Old City, Aliganj, Niralanagar, Vikasnagar and Madiaon would need to move out of their homes earlier than usual to reach anywhere on Saturday. Owing to the national cycle race, diversions would be enforced in these areas till 10am on Saturday .
The race would begin from KD Singh Babu Stadium at 6.30am. While professional cyclists are likely to end their run within a certain period, an open race would continue till late as hundreds of city residents are expected to participate in it.
The route earmarked for the open event extends from KD Singh Babu Stadium up to Medical College Convention Centre crossing in Chowk. Consequently, traffic would be regulated at Parivartan Chowk, around Shaheed Smark, and near Nehru Planetarium.
Movement on roads linking the route earmarked for the race, such as Hanuman Setu road, Pucca Pul, Roomi Darwaza road and Shahmina Road would also be affected.
“Commuters should avoid Hanuman Setu bridge and take Nishatganj bridge to head towards Hazratganj, Charbagh or the airport. Chowk residents should take internal roads to reach Qaiserbagh or go via Victoria Street,” said additional superintendent of traffic police Brajesh Mishra.
