Vivan Hoo-Khe Keep M'sian Flag Flying After Moving Into Quarterfinals

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Bernama) -- Women's doubles pair Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei saved the blushes for the country by moving into the quarterfinals of the Malaysian Open Premier Super Series as the nation's sole representative. Vivian Hoo-Khe Wei edged Indonesian pair Anggia Shitta Awanda/Mahadewi Istirani Ni Ketut 21-9, 18-21, 21-18 at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, here Thursday. "We were under pressure before the match but everything went smoothly in the first set. From the very beginning we did not set any target to reach the semis or final. Our focus was to win every match we played," said Vivian Hoo. Khe Wei meanwhile, was more optimistic of their chances and expressed confidence that they would be able to beat Chinese pair Huan Xia/Tian Qing Friday. "They are playing as a team for the first time, so we have chance because their combination may not have blended in that well yet," she said. Earlier, another women's doubles pair Amelia Alicia Anscelly/Soong Fie Cho lost to Germany's Isabel Herttrich/Birgit Michels 21-16, 17-21, 14-21 in three sets. (photoBERNAMA) -- BERNAMA
