Two police officers placed under suspension

The Inspector General of Police, Shankar, has placed Subash, an Inspector, and Rajendran, a Sub Inspector, under suspension for altering a first information report (FIR) reportedly to protect an accused.

The case related to the arrest of four persons on the charge of transporting sand illegally, near a check post at Kalingavaram.

It was stated that the name of Ramesh of Marthandam in Kanyakumari was removed from the FIR, and the name of Lokesh of Kuttalapalli in Shoolagiri was added.

The Superintendent of Police, Kannammal, conducted an inquiry and it was found that the two officers tried to protect Ramesh.
