Richard Fahey Column: Horse-by-horse guide for Good Friday

Image: Alben Star: Ready to rumble as he returns to Lingfield

Our star columnist Richard Fahey is back with a horse-by-horse guide to his Good Friday team.

Winning the Betway Lincoln with Gabrial was a great way to launch our 2015 campaign The good ground really helped him – unlike my other runner Gabrial’s Kaka – and he showed good battling qualities to get there close home.

Marwan (Koukash) is very keen to go to Chester so all roads lead there for now and the horse has come out of the race really well.

It would be nice to pick up another good prize on Good Friday where we have three runners on All-Weather Championships Finals Day at Lingfield.

Strictly on ratings Maiden Approach has a bit to find in the 32Red.com All-Weather Fillies' And Mares' Championships Conditions Stakes and seven furlongs would be on the sharp side for her too. However she’s qualified, in good form at home, and will take her chance.

Alben Star won the Unibet All-Weather Sprint Championships Conditions Stakes last season. It’s been a little bit of a rush to get him there this time around but he seems in good order. Ryan Moore takes the ride and we’ll see what happens.

La Dorotea is a big price for the 32Red All-Weather 3 Year Old Mile Championships Conditions Stakes and has a lot to find on what she’s shown so far. If she finished in the first four or five I’d be delighted.

Over at Musselburgh Gabrial The Terror bids to complete a five-timer in the mytotepool.com Balmoral Cup Handicap. He certainly knows how to win on the all-weather and while he hasn’t been doing it by far, he’s been winning well. This is a very different test and it will be interesting to see how he gets on but we do know he’s very fit and at the top of his game.

We run two nice horses in the totequadpot Royal Mile Handicap. Spring Offensive is one we all like. He’s still learning his trade and remains a little immature but has done really well over the winter. I just hope he’s man enough for a race like this at this stage of his career.

Arcano Gold is one I’m very sweet on. He took an age to win last year but showed a great attitude to do it – and he is a real trier. Again he’s really progressed from two to three and I wouldn’t like to split my pair here in what is a very competitive race for good prize-money.

Gabrial The Duke has won two of his last four races and remains in good heart. He has a bit of a mind of his own but is doing nothing wrong right now and Paul Hanagan takes the ride in the totepoolliveinfo.com Handicap.

He’s also on Third Time Lucky in the totepool Racing's Biggest Supporter EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes. I really hope this fellow wins as he’s owned by some very good friends of mine. He has course form and on ratings would just about be the one to beat. It would be great to see him get his head in front.
