In the context of the country making a big leap in the launching of satellites for various applications, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) director M C Dathan has stated that increased participation from small, big and large industries were required in the area of aerospace manufacturing.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the context of the country making a big leap in the launching of satellites for various applications, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) director M C Dathan has stated that increased participation from small, big and large industries were required in the area of aerospace manufacturing.
He was inaugurating the National Technical Colloquium organized by the Society of Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers here the other day.
He also solicited more participation from educational and research and development (R&D) institutions in the complex technology of rocket science.
"It is a continuous search for new industries to join space applications with the increase in space launches and satellite components required. Currently, about 400 industries, including private and government sector industries from across the country are supporting Isro in satellite applications," said a senior scientist at VSSC.
GSLV Mk III project director S Somanath presided over the function. VSSC deputy director and Koshy M George and outstanding space scientists R Ramavarma, N R Vishnu Kartha, S Rakesh, Roy M Cherian and Christopher Solomon spoke on the occasion.
Experts from Indian institute of technologies (IITs) in Mumbai and Chennai led the classes on the subject 'Information Technology in Aerospace Manufacturing' which explored the possibilities of increasing the IT application in aerospace manufacturing in terms of the precision of equipment and timely advantage. Awards were presented to individuals and industries that excelled in aerospace manufacturing.
