The techno-cultural fest, in association with Bangalore Mirror, turns out to be a rollicking affair with gala events

Neither the sweltering heat nor the approaching exams could deplete the energy levels of hundreds of students who jived at Utsav-2015 -- the annual techno-cultural fest organised by BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE-Basavanagudi) in association with Bangalore Mirror on Wednesday.
The adrenaline rush was visible from the word go as students decided to take a break from their hectic study schedule and indulge in majaa and masti at the college premises in Basavanagudi. Students from more than 50 colleges across Bengaluru came to compete the annual techno-cultural fest ‘Utsav’. Students came in with a determination to win and the organising college made sure that participants are entertained in their process of fun and learning. Keeping with the tradition of the college, the fest began with the traditional dolukullida performance.
A mega event needs a mega inauguration and BMS college made sure the participants have a treat to their eyes. It was a star-studded inauguration with Kannada actors Diganth and Aindrita Ray, playback singer Shamitha Maland and crowd-puller Mimicry Dayanand hogging the limelight. The stage seemed no less than a movie shoot with the complete package in place. Sharing space with those from the glitz world were former bureaucrat K Jairaj, college trustee Dayanand Pai and principal Mallikarjun Babu.

Enthusiasm shown by the students made the stars nostalgic and go back their own college days. Sandalwood chocolate boy Diganth said, “College days are like golden days of one’s life. Make use of every opportunity you get here and explore your talent whatever field it be in.”
A clear show stealer at the event, Aindrita Ray said, “After seeing the excitement, I feel like going back to my own college. BMS College is by far the biggest college fest I have attended and I love the spirit here.” Words were accompanied equally by actions, be it mimicry by Dayanand, who declared the crowd as his best audience ever or songs by playback singer Shamitha, who had a perfect mix of old and new Kannada songs to offer the crowd.
The event will be held for the next two days and more than 50, 000 students will compete in more than 60 events. The event will also see the first red bull tour in the south zone with three live band performances on the bus. April 3 will see the fest at a new level with the most-sought-after event Turtle Jam.
