Rumor resurfaces: Apple to come out with 3 new iPhones in 2015, one of which a 4-incher

Citing industry sources, DigiTimes claims that the Cupertino-based giant is ready to go ahead and revitalize its one-off 'C' line of iPhones and release a 4-inch iPhone 6C alongside an iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. As most of you will remember, Apple introduced the plastic iPhone 5c in 2013, killing off the aluminum iPhone 5 in the process, much to the dismay of the general public. 

The iPhone 6c and iPhone 6s Plus, according to the aforementioned insiders, will come equipped with an LTPS display made by Japan Display, Sharp, and LG, while the iPhone 6s will tout a unit made by either Japan Display or LG. All three devices will, reportedly, feature Gorilla Glass cover for the panels, and have NFC and a fingerprint scanner on board. As for processing might, the iPhone 6c will make use of the current crop of Apple-designed A8 chips, while the 6s and 6s Plus will get a new, improved A9 silicon. Lastly, we're told that the iPhone 6c is expected to be manufactured by Wistron, while the contracts for the 6s series will likely go to Foxconn and Pegatron.

While none of this resembles anything close to official information, we have to point out that Apple likely left fans of previous iPhones' compact form factor unhappy with the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. Sure, chasing after that particular niche may be seen as watering down the iPhone line-up, but then again – Apple was always adamant about the advantages of smaller screens that can be better used with just one hand. That is, right until Tim Cook took the reins and the company released its largest ever iPhones last year.
