Andy Sullivan: Nuneaton golfer targeting first trip to Masters

English golfer Andy Sullivan is hoping a good week in Morocco can book a trip to next month's Masters at Augusta.

The 28-year-old from Nuneaton knows a third title of 2015 at the Trophee Hassan II can secure a first-ever visit to the world-famous Georgia course.

But he will have to improve on his opening day in Agadir, where a two-over 74 left him struggling to make the cut.

"If I don't get in it won't be the end of the world. I will have had a great start to the year regardless," he said.

"But it is a massive carrot dangling in front of me. If someone said at the start of the year I had a chance to get to the Masters I'd have said no chance. I've never played a major before. It's something I've always wanted to do."

Sullivan was runner-up at the Trophee Hassan II a year ago, coming home in 29 shots in a last-round 63 to finish runner-up to Spaniard Alejandro Canizares at the Golf du Palais Royal.

That effectively sealed his card for the 2015 season, which he has since made good use of, winning the South African Open in early January, then the Joburg Open just seven weeks later.

Having started the new season 150th in the official world golf rankings, he is already up to 61st and knows that a climb up to the Top 50 would book his invite to Augusta.
