Since ours is no longer a country that is shy to live it up, noticing the change, Mercedes-Benz has plans to re-introduce the Maybach in India. Although this time, it won’t be a standalone brand, but an opulently appointed S-Class that wears the badge. Called the Mercedes Maybach S 600, this German palace on wheels is specifically made for the chauffeur driven, as the wheelbase of a normal S-Class has been extended to live up to that Maybach badge on the boot.
Calling it the world’s quietest sedan, Mercedes has made this limo go through extensive wind tunnel testing and has used special seals and insulation material to reduce wind noise inside the car as much as possible. Available in two variants, the pricier S 600 is powered by powered by a 5980cc V12 biturbo motor that generates 530 hp and maximum torque of 830 Nm. It completes the sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 5.0 seconds, while the top speed is 155 mph (electronically limited). The S 500 on the other hand is powered by a 4663 cc V8 biturbo engine that pumps out 455 hp and 700 Nm of twist. It comes equipped as standard with a new 9G-TRONIC, the world’s first nine-speed automatic transmission in the premium scheme of things. Expect almost every bell and whistle to grace the cabin of this car if it does make it to our shores.
