‘Bose files’ needs public movement
VADODARA: Anuj Dhar, who has been for the last 15 years chasing every possible lead to rebut the theory that Subhas Chandra Bose died in a plane crash in Taiwan in 1945, wishes to build a public movement off ‘The Bose Mystery’ which has intrigued many for decades. Dhar, who also launched ‘Mission Netaji’, has been the leading activist to demand declassification of the government files that deal with Bose’s death.
Dhar is hopeful that the Narendra Modi government would finally reveal the secrets that had caused many speculations over the years.
However, he believes strong public opinion and pressure from the whole nation would accelerate the process. In the city for a two-day interaction with students, Dhar believes the mystery related to Bose should reach citizens across the country, especially the younger generation.
“Politically, the issue has put many governments in a suspicious spot. I expect the present Union government to be different from others and I think that a national drive will help us find the truth,” Dhar said. During his interactions, Dhar presented various classified and rare documents that prove that Bose was alive after the crash.
“There are enough circumstantial evidences that Netaji Bose lived in Siberia for many years, then in Ayodhya and later in Faizabad as ‘Gumnami Baba’ till his death in early 1990s. Graphologists have proven that the handwriting of Gumnani Baba resembled that of Bose. Many political leaders and defence personnel were seen visiting Faizabad, especially during the 1971 Bangladesh liberation war,” said Dhar.
According to Dhar, the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Rajnath Singh talked openly about the files related to Bose’s death is a good sign. “If the current government also fails to declassify the files, it would be damage their attempt of creating a transparent government. But I believe that Modi will tell the public about Bose’s death and expose the biggest cover up in modern history at an appropriate time,” Dhar added.
According to the reply to an RTI filed by Dhar, there are 41 secret files related to Bose of which 20 deal with his death. Five files had been identified as so sensitive that even their names were not disclosed.
