Solar power plant soon in Mahbubnagar

Centre granted a 6,800 MW thermal power plant on 10,000 acres of forest land

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday said that the Telangana government is seriously considering a proposal to set up a solar power plant in Mahbubnagar district soon. He praises Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar for granting environmental clearance for setting up a 6,800 MW thermal power plant at Damacharla in Nalgonda on 10,000 acres of forest land.

“He (Mr Javadekar) accorded clearance in just one-and-a-half months. I convey my thanks to Mr Javadekear on behalf of the Telangana government and people,” Mr Rao said in the Legislative Assembly.

Mr Rao spoke in response to to the heated argument between power minister G. Jagadish Reddy and Congress MLA G. Chinna Reddy over setting up of power projects in Mahbubnagar.

The CM asked both ruling and Opposition MLAs to maintain restraint during the debates in the House and “avoid making sweeping or derogatory remarks against others which spoil the image of the Legislature.”
