Two persons were injured after plaster and concrete came crashing down all of a s sudden from the ceiling at the Egmore railway station on Tuesday morning.

According to police, sources the duo, Narendra and Babloo, were natives of Bihar.

They were employed as workers at a construction site in Sholinganallur, off the East Coast Road.

As their place of stay was far off, both of them had come to the railway station, on Monday night itself, to board an early morning train to their hometown.

While they were sleeping near the ticket counter, the plaster from the ceiling fell on them.

Both sustained injuries on their legs and were treated at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

Soon after the accident, the area was cordoned off for a short while, officials said. Senior railway officials said that work is in progress to replace the entire plastering.
