TDP, TRS lose one seat each in MLC elections

The TRS was ahead in the Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam constituency

Hyderabad: The TRS in Telangana and the TDP in Andhra Pradesh came up with a mixed bag in the Graduate and Teacher MLC elections, each winning one seat and losing one.

While the TDP’s A.S. Ramakrishna won comfortably from the Krishna-Guntur teachers’ constituency, sitting MLC Chaitanya Raju lost in East-West Godavari to the communist-backed United Teachers’ Forum candidate Ramu Surya Rao.

In Telangana, the TRS’ Devi Prasada Rao lost to TD-supported BJP candidate N. Ramachandra Rao in the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar graduates’ constituency. The TRS was ahead in the Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam constituency.

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu attributed Mr Raju’s defeat to the non-cooperation of ministers and party legislators from the Godavari districts.
