NCAA tournament Sweet 16 preview: Wisconsin vs. North Carolina

David Leon Moore
USA TODAY Sports
Bronson Koenig has stepped up at guard for Wisconsin.

No. 1 Wisconsin (33-3) vs. No. 4 North Carolina (26-11)

Time, TV: 7:47 p.m., TBS

Where: Los Angeles

Why Wisconsin will win: The Badgers, the top seed in the West, are a model of offensive efficiency. They turn the ball over on just 12.5% of their possessions, the best in the nation. They keep opponents off the free throw line better than any other team. All-America forward Frank Kaminsky is extremely efficient and has tournament experience, so he should be a handful for the Tar Heels.

Why North Carolina will win: Though not a physically strong team, the Tar Heels are deep with long, quick athletes and have a point guard in Marcus Paige who can handle pressure. With 6-9 Kennedy Meeks and 6-10 Joel James, North Carolina can throw plenty of defenders at Kaminsky. The Tar Heels rank 13th nationally in offensive rebounding.

History lesson: Wisconsin is in the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in five years. In the previous three trips, the Badgers lost in the Round of 16 twice and advanced to the Final Four last year.
