Jipmer signs MoU on tele-medicine

The Jipmer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India, to upgrade and expand its ongoing telemedicine services.

The primary objective of the MoU, inked by Dr. Subhash Chandra Parija, Director, Jipmer and the MOHFW is to upgrade Jipmer’s tele-education and tele-patient care services.

Already, Jipmer has a fairly well equipped tele-medicine facility which includes Video Conferencing System, Telecast System, Digital Microscope and HD cameras.

The financial and technical assistance sought to be provided through the MoU is expected to improve ongoing projects in the areas of teleopthalmology, tele-Onconet, the ISRO Project (for teleconsultations), the Medical Virtual Class Room (VCR) Project and the National Knowledge Network Project.
