Jamshedpur: The able son of chief minister, Raghubar Das, has stepped in to shoulder his father’s responsibilities after finding his father too busy to address the petty day-to-day grievances of the people of his constituency Lalit Das, 24, the only son of the first non-tribal chief minister of Jharkhand, has announced holding public meet (Janata Durbar) five days a week at CM’s Agrico residence from next week.

From Monday to Friday, Lalit will meet people from 7 to 9 in the evening every day. “Local people (particularly those living in CM’s assembly constituency Jamshedpur East) with grievances willing to take up their matter to the CM could come to me and convey their complaints. Issues that could be addressed then and there, shall be addressed and remaining matter will be forwarded to the CM,” said Lalit refusing to call it as Janata Durbar.
The 2014 Business Management graduate from BIT Mesra, who has recently joined Tata Steel as HR manager, said the purpose behind his decision to hold public meeting is to ensure redressal of the public grievances at the earliest.
Lalit, however, said that he has announced public meeting programme voluntarily. “No, I have not discussed that matter with my father. It’s a voluntary initiative,” said Lalit.
Party activists and close friends of Lalit informed that busy schedule of the CM has driven his son to announce Janata Durbar.
“Raghubarji’s hectic schedule as CM has left him with little time to interact with the constituency people therefore to shoulder the responsibilities of his father, Lalit decided for Janata Darbar,” said a young party activist who is close to Lalit.
People close to senior Das informed that before becoming the CM, Raghubar, who is the fifth consecutive term MLA, used to spend much time with the people of his constituency and with the party activists.
“To make sure petty issues of the constituency people are resolved at the local level and also to send across the message that their elected representative hasn’t gone far from them, the able son of the CM has decided for Janata Durbar,” said a close aide of Raghubar Das.
