Coimbatore Corporation officials on Wednesday disconnected water supply to a gated community in East Zone as 32 of the 188 residents had failed to pay property tax and water connection charges.

A release said that the dues totalled Rs. 1.26 lakh.

With this, the total number of disconnections this year stands at 45. Officials said the corporation would continue to disconnect water supply if residents failed to clear the dues. On Wednesday, the civic body’s collection stood at 90 per cent of tax or Rs. 109.13 crore. The total tax demand was around Rs. 120 crore.
