An 18-year-old boy from Khanapur drowned in a swimming pool near Goaves under Tilakwadi police station limits here on Wednesday.
Madan Shetty, who had come along with five other friends, had allegedly consumed wine before going to the swimming pool. He jumped from a diving pad 2 metres above the water-level, but no one noticed him. It was at the end of the swimming batch’s one-hour time that his friends started looking for him, said swimming coach Umesh Kalghatgi.
He said inquiries revealed that Madan and his friends had consumed wine. After diving into the water, he did not come out for quite some time. Nobody noticed his body under water also.
