Illegal mining accused thrashes cop in Gurgaon

GURGAON: A resident of Bar Gujjar village was arrested for allegedly thrashing a policeman inside Kherki Daula police station on Wednesday.
According to sources, one Laxman Singh was arrested on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in a case of illegal mining and stealing stones from Aravali hills in 2014. His brother Satpal Singh barged into the police station and created mayhem.
Singh claimed his brother was arrested because he had not bribed the officers. He then beat ASI Anil Kumar. Singh said police had earlier concluded that Laxman was innocent and his name was removed from FIR. But they have now implicated Laxman in order to extort money, Singh said.
Police, however, refuted these claims. They said Singh was in an inebriated state when he attacked the ASI. Medical examination of both Singh and Kumar has been conducted.
The former, was produced in a city court later on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody.
