Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 6.60% or 0.32 points to trade at 5.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) added 5.19% or 0.48 points to end at 9.72 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was up 4.95% or 1.98 points to 42.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which fell 3.30% or 0.34 points to trade at 9.97 at the close. Even Construtora e Incorporadora SA (SA:EVEN3) declined 3.02% or 0.14 points to end at 4.50 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was down 2.59% or 0.11 points to 4.14.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 142 to 121 and 9 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.44% to 38.51.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.30% or 3.60 to $1195.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.14% or 1.49 to hit $49.00 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 1.42% or 1.95 to trade at $139.60 .
USD/BRL was up 1.93% to 3.2001, while EUR/BRL rose 2.39% to 3.5117.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 97.08.
