Study projects costs, decay-reduction impact of strategies to prevent tooth decay in ECCs

A study in the Journal of the American Dental Association analyzed the impact and cost of prevention approaches toward tooth decay in Early Childhood Caries for people on Medicaid.

Burton L. Edelstein, DDS, MPH, and colleagues found the variety of interventions available to control ECC change substantially across population and individual levels, and that "using Medicaid and health department dollars to deliver ECC preventive and management interventions holds strong promise to improve children's oral health while reducing state dental expenditures in Medicaid."
