Jerry Jones not concerned about a Dez Bryant holdout

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he is not concerned about Dez Bryant holding out for a new contract, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

After failing to come to terms on a long-term contract, the Cowboys used the franchise tag on Bryant last month. He will make $12.7 million next season.

While Bryant hasn’t signed the franchise agreement yet, Jones said he is confident Bryant will be with the team throughout the off-season and when the regular season kicks off.

“I’m not worried about that at all, and it’s because of how much he loves the game, how much he knows that preparation, practice, all of that improves him,” owner Jerry Jones said.

Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said discussions on a new contract haven’t taken place because of uncertainty in the market for wide receivers.

Bryant, 26, had 88 catches for 1,320 yards and led the league with 16 receiving touchdowns in 2014. He was a first-team All-Pro selection for the first time in his career and was also named to the Pro Bowl for the second time.

The Cowboys made the playoffs for the first time since 2009 and reached the divisional round before falling to the Packers.
