5 Lego movie parodies the Internet is loving right now

The Oscars snub that completely ignored the “The Lego Movie” for Best Animated Feature must have really struck a chord. Lego fans have recently taken to the Internet in creative droves to re-create popular movies and TV shows in toy-brick form — and they range from the silly to the downright impressive. Even if “The Lego Movie” didn’t get the recognition it deserved, these videos prove that everything is still awesome on the Internet sometimes.

‘Back to the Future’

Released in February, this is the re-creation of the fateful lightning-strike scene that sends Marty back to the future. You can even buy that DeLorean Lego set now, too.

‘Jurassic Park’

A father-daughter team created this intensely detailed parody of “Jurassic Park” using $100,000 worth of Legos. They injected some humor in it, too, including a “Seinfeld” “Newman!” reference.

‘The Matrix’

The Wachowski siblings haven’t had much luck in the box office since their 1999 smash hit. Maybe they should take a cue from this homage, released last week, and try their hand at Lego films.

‘Fifty Shades of Grey’

This video is a shot-for-shot remake of the “Fifty Shades” trailer. We doubt you’ll see a Red Room playset anytime soon, though.

‘House of Cards’

This remake of the Kevin Spacey Netflix political series is cleverly called “House of Bricks.” It’s actually an ad for Pley, a company that rents Lego sets.
