Terry Collins settles on Michael Cuddyer in left, Curtis Granderson in right

TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Mets manager Terry Collins has his outfield alignment set. Michael Cuddyer will be the regular left fielder, with Curtis Granderson remaining in right field and Gold Glove winner Juan Lagares in center.

Collins said he actually settled on that alignment even entering spring training.

It had been presumed after Cuddyer signed in November that he would man right field, with Granderson moving to the other corner.

Cuddyer has started 854 career games in right field and three games in left field, but expressed indifference to his positional alignment.

Granderson expressed receptiveness to moving to left field to accommodate Cuddyer's addition, but Collins liked how Granderson handled the quirky right-field dimensions at Citi Field last season and wanted to leave that uninterrupted.

Cuddyer has been deaf in his left ear since he was 11 years old, but said that would not be a hindrance in left field. He has steadily been assigned to left field during spring training, although he has not seriously been tested.
