A 32-year-old man committed suicide by jumping before a train at Chhattarpur Metro station on Wednesday afternoon. Police said a suicide note, recovered from a bag he was carrying, stated that he was suffering from depression and was thus ending his life.
Around 3.45 pm, the man, identified as Ajay Kashyap, jumped before a Jahangirpuri-bound train. He was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was declared dead on arrival.
“We recovered a suicide note from the bag Kashyap was carrying. In the note, he said he was suffering from acute depression, cited it as the reason for his wife leaving him and that he was extremely frustrated, which was why he was ending his life,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Sanjay Bhatia said.
Police said Kashyap had been undergoing treatment for depression at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) and Safdarjung hospital for several years. Police, however, said he did not cite financial difficulties for ending his life.
