Duo molest constable's wife outside commissioner's office

If this can happen to a policeman's wife, then it won't be wrong to say that safety of other women is really at risk. On Tuesday night, wife of a police constable was molested by two men in front of the Police Commissioner’s office.

The incident occurred when the victim had come out of a restaurant after having dinner with her family. Worse still, when her husband, intervened, the two accused assaulted him.

As per the complaint registered by the constable, he had gone out for dinner with his wife, sister and son to Bawarchi restaurant on Tuesday night.

When his wife went to wash her hands, one of the accused Saleem Shaikh, who was having dinner with his friend Mustafa Boranwala threw a chit at the constable's wife. “The accused had scribbled his name and number on the chit and had thrown it at the victim,” said an officer from L T Marg police station.

The constable alleges that when he reprimanded the two men, they assaulted him and his wife. Following the incident, there was huge commotion outside the restaurant.

Since the hotel is located opposite Crawford Market, the constables posted at commissioner’s office rushed to the spot and managed to arrest Boranwala but Shaikh managed to flee.

Both Boranwala and Shaikh have been booked on the charges of molestation and assault. Boranwala was produced in the Esplanade court on Wednesday. He has been remanded to police custody till July 9.
