Former Rajkot Deputy Mayor’s arrest certain

Police has enough evidence against Narendra Solanki and it will arrest him, said Rajkot Police Commissioner Mohan Jha.

He said police team also went to Solanki’s house on Tuesday as soon as the District and Sessions Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea, but Solanki was not found at his home.

He said police is in search of Solanki and he will be arrested soon.

Solanki is former Deputy Mayor of Rajkot. He resigned as municipal Councillor of Rajkot recently on party’s request after his involvement in brutal attack case came to light.

Silanki’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected on Tuesday in connection with brutal attack on property dealer Jagdish Rathod early on March 3 in Rathod’s office in Rajkot by three persons allegedly sent by Solanki.

Jagdish Rathod is husband of BJP Councillor Damyantiben. He was badly injured and critical after brutal attack on him. He had lost his speech following the attack.

Solanki had allegedly masterminded attack on Rathod for some Facebook comments against him. The attackers were arrested by Police. They admitted they were sent by Solanki. Even call data records prove Solanki’s involvement.

According to police Solanki has been booked for ten offences in past including rioting, attempt of murder, issuance of threats. In 1996-2010 period 4 complaints were filed against him in Malavia police station, 2 in Bhaktinagar police station, 3 in A division police station and 1 in Taluka police station.

Last year Solanki made an announcement to leave political life and he opened Apa Giga ashram in Chotila on Ahmedabad-Rajkot highway.

As he smelled he would be arrested in Rathod attack case, Solanki started fast in public in presence of his supporters and made allegation that police wanted to frame him in the case for not paying Rs. 10 lakh. However this drama ended in couple of days and Solanki went untraced.
