APML to contest LB elections

KARACHI - Predicting 2015 year of mid-term election former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf  on Saturday announce to contest Local bodies’ election.  Addressing the AMPL meeting in a local hotel of Karachi, former President was of the view that the country is heading towards destruction and the only good politics can save Pakistan. “My preference is still Pakistan and I want positive politics for the development of the country” added Musharraf.
He said that the country on one side is facing terrorism while the current system, political corruptions, misuse of powers, inflation, unemployment, and power crisis had disappointed the people.
 he said that situation is forcing investors, professionals, educated community and youth to leave the country, “it is another economical threat for Pakistan, he said”. APML Chief further said that the country has natural resources along with talented and hardworking people. He said that utilization of these resources would help to eliminate basic concerns of poor people.
“We need reforms in the economical, education, health, agriculture, and industrial sectors and it can be made possible through constitutional amendments. Honest leadership recognised on the international level can bring the country out of crisis”, said Musharraf. He said that the he tried for alliance with the parties in 2013 but unfortunately it could not happen. “I returned despite security threats and reprisal cases with a vision to form a third political force that would bring the country from the hot waters”, he said adding that APML was formed but he remained stuck in the legal war. Appreciating the efforts of the party leaders he said that continuous work of party workers and leaders had brought party on the national level. And now political leaders of various political parties were making contact with APML leadership to join the party. Announcing to contest Local Bodies polls Former President said that organisational level of APML will have to lead to Union Council while APML will take part in the local bodies’ elections and win. He further said elections can be held in next three years but possibility of interim government in the current situation may come as well.
Earlier APML leaders after consultations passed various resolutions while Nationwide District presidents, general secretaries and overseas officials attended the meeting, which will continue for two days.
