Connacht coach Pat Lam is not allowed divulge the outcome of the official complaint he made about referee Leighton Hodges, but he said that he now has to deal with the consequences of his outburst.

Lam was hit with an unprecedented fine of €8,000, €5,000 of which is to be suspended, after he admitted a charge of misconduct to Pro12 officials linked to his criticism of Hodges.

Connacht have made an official complaint about the official to independent referee commissioner Ed Morrison, and they have been asked to keep details of the process and any possible punishment private.

Hodges has been pencilled in to take charge of Connacht's next match, this Saturday's tussle with Munster, and Lam confirmed there has been no change in official for that game. However he would not be drawn on if he had a problem with the Welsh man taking charge.

PRIVATE

"No comment. I can't comment on that," Lam said. "We've gone through that process and there was an outcome but that has to remain private. . . until the Pro12 are ready to make an announcement. I suppose you can ask them.

"But I've just gone through the process which has to be done privately," he said about his official complaint.

"At the end of the day I went through the process. The process is the process and the regulations: there was misconduct so guilty, now face the consequences and now move on."

Meanwhile, Connacht have confirmed the signing of Kiwi flanker Nepia Fox-Matamua for next season.

Fox-Matamua (23) will sign a two-year deal with the province following the move from ITM Cup side Auckland, and the New Zealander will join Lam's outfit in time for pre-season training in June.
