‘Complete road works before May 15’

R. Druvanarayan, Chamarajanagar MP, has instructed officials to complete road works before May 15, which had been taken up under various schemes of the State and Union government.

Presiding over the progress review meeting of Centrally-sponsored works here on today, he said that though there were sufficient funds, road works were getting delayed. He said students and the public are facing hardship due to the ongoing repair work of the National Highway on Sathegala Bridge.

Drinking water projects

He instructed the highway authority officials to complete the projects before June. He said drinking water projects which are under progress should be completed before April. He said MNREGA works are to be taken on priority. He said of the total 2,162 works, only 260 are under progress and the action plan has not been approved for 571 works in Yelandur taluk.

He instructed the officials to give more projects for Soliga tribes in Biligirirangaswamy Temple limits.

He instructed the officials to identify 50 acres of land for the establishment of a cotton and jower research centre. He also instructed the Vice-Chancellor of University of Agricultural Sciences, H. Shivanna, to open the research centre temporarily at Haradanahalli Krishi Vignan Kendra.
