Robbed people to buy drugs, nabbed 5 tell cops

JALANDHAR: Jalandhar (rural) police claim to have busted a gang of robbers who took to crime to meet their expenses to buy drugs. Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police Jaspreet Sidhu said the accused were arrested by their criminal investigation agency staff from near Wariana village when they were planning to execute more robberies. He said the arrests were made when the accused were travelling in a Toyota Innova.
A preliminary interrogation of the arrested accused revealed that they used the same vehicle to rob people on link roads at night and were out on bail in cases registered against them earlier.
Three of them, identified as Gupreet, Nicolson and Mohit, are already facing cases under the NDPS Act while the fourth accused, Karan, was booked for fraud. They revealed that they used to the contraband from one Vishal living in Basti Guzzan area. Police also arrested Vishal and seized 60g heroin from him.
