Kohima: Governor of Assam,
Nagaland and Tripura PB Acharya has been selected as the brand ambassador for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign by
Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This was announced during the inauguration of a Swachh Bharat awareness campaign in Kohima on Monday. It was organized by
Kohima Municipal Council (KMC).
Acharya has expressed joy to be a part of the mission which aims at constructing 1 crore toilets across the country within five years.
The governor has urged corporates and the banking sector to sponsor the construction of toilets in public places and help keep the country clean. He said MPs and MLAs must adopt one village and develop them with the funds they receive. He regretted the lack of adequate toilet facilities for
women in public places and offices.
The governor has appealed to all individuals and civil society groups to extend help in fulfilling the mission. He launched the programme in the presence of a host of dignitaries and a huge crowd.
Acharya informed the guests that a person from Gujarat has expressed his desire to construct 400 toilets in Kohima. He appealed to the Angami tribe to provide land for the purpose.

Pankaj Kumar congratulated the governor for his new role to promote cleanliness and wished him luck to fulfil the mission by 2019.
