Describing the Mission Kakatiya programme as a noble one, Governor ESL Narasimhan has asked people to own responsibility and constitute committees to maintain the tanks in villages.

Going round the Ura Cheruvu in Muddunur village in Duggondi mandal here on Tuesday, the Governor said it was not proper to expect the government to do everything. “Our government is doing this to ensure water for your irrigation needs and hence you all should take responsibility and constitute a committee and ensure maintenance of tank henceforth,’ he told villagers who gathered at the tank.

Without mincing words, Mr Narasimhan said “Don’t expect the government to do everything while you relax at home.” Pointing to the women who gathered there, has told them to send their children to schools. “It is wrong to put children to work. The government is providing free education and one day your child can become a doctor, engineer or an officer,” he said amid cheers from women.

The Governor interacted with the workers employed there and officials inquiring about the ongoing work. District Collector Vakati Karuna, SP Mr AK Jha and other officials accompanied the Governor.

Earlier in the day, Mr Narasimhan visited the historic Bhadrakali temple in Warangal city. He spent over an hour taking part in rituals. He inquired with the officials about the Bhadrakali tank and its importance.

The Governor and his family members had a joyful time going round the premises. Late in the evening, Mr Narasimhan went to Fort Warangal to witness the sound and light show arranged by the district administration. He was scheduled to visit the historic Thousand Pillar temple on Wednesday before returning to the capital city.
