26 Senators Tell USPS to 'Pause All Changes' to
Delivery Network
5.08.2024 -
Federal News Network reports: "A bipartisan group of 26 senators is calling on the Postal Service to halt its network modernization changes, until an independent regulator can weigh the merits of the plan.
The senators, in a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and the USPS Board of Governors, are raising concerns about persistent mail delays in regions where the agency has opened the first of many large, regional hubs to consolidate local processing operations."

USPS is getting better at hiring, but half of
non-career postings still have no applicants
4.26.2024 -
GovExec.com reports: "Two-thirds of those positions were rural carrier associates. While the IG credited postal management with taking steps that significantly improved the agency's hiring processes, the number of postings without applicants increased to 58% in fiscal 2023. In the Wisconsin and Minnesota-North Dakota districts, 87% and 84% of RCA postings, respectively, received no applicants. Those areas also had the highest no-applicant rates for city carrier assistants." -

Senators call on postal board to abandon DeJoy's
reforms
4.25.2024 -
GovExec.com reports: "The U.S. Postal Service's governing board should stop implementing Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's plan to overhaul the mailing agency's operations, according to a group of Democratic senators who said the 10-year blueprint to improve USPS finances and efficiency is failing.
While postal leadership has repeatedly defended its Delivering for America plan and said it needs more time to realize the benefits of its pricing, network and workforce reforms, the seven senators, led by Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., said the changes are actively harming the Postal Service and its customers." -
