French jazz band enthralls city, says Indians sensitive to music

The band says that touring Asia offers something different than touring in Europe, because people here are not used to jazz and have a very strong traditional music culture. “Indian public is good and as the majority of Asian public, has a kind of youthfulness linked to the fact that they don’t really know jazz, which they are not used to. It makes them more sensitive; they feel the music more. In Europe, the audience is aging and knows jazz better, so it is totally different,” Frederic Petitprez says.

The three longtime friends from Toulouse in the South of France, formed the Trio in 2009, and since then have held about 250 concerts across the world. “It is not an intellectual kind of jazz. We are trying to make it accessible, it is not only for the initiated. It is our own music, a mix of all the music we like: Jazz, Funk, Classical…,” says Rémi Panossian as he sought to explain their style.

With already two albums, Add Fiction in 2011 and BBANG in 2013, and one upcoming album RP3, to be released in April 2015 in Asia and September 2015 in Europe, the Band already has some notoriety in their home country, apart from Germany and even in South Korea.

They now have a three-week tour of Japan and Korea scheduled for next month and a one-week tour of China in June.
