TOKYO -- Haier Asia, a Tokyo-based unit under Chinese consumer appliance giant Haier Group, unveiled a sprawling new research and development center in Japan last week.
The center is located just north of Tokyo in the city of Kumagaya, Saitama Prefecture, and was built at a cost of 7 billion yen ($57.8 million). With a floor space of roughly 12,000 sq. meters, it is the group's largest R&D center outside of China.
